‘Look beyond what your eyes can see’

KM 31 – or Kilómetro 31 is a 2006 Mexican supernatural horror film written and directed by Rigoberto Castaneda.

The film is inspired by the Crying Woman legend (La Llorona) and legends about highway ghosts. It was the first mainstream horror film to be produced in Mexico for around twenty years and was a substantial box office hit.

Reviews:

“The central ghost story works very well, with the switch between sinister and mundane keeping the audience hooked. In terms of mood, it is masterful, however, the film falls down slightly due to a surfeit of subplots.” Eye For Film

“The extensive visuals are slick, the cameras spin in and out of manhole covers and around characters and people shimmer in and out of view. Admittedly it’s fused with a certain smouldering, dark catholic charm (when did Mexico get all modern-looking?), but the visuals are pure J-Horror.” Den of Geek
