Scooby-Doo! and the Loch Ness Monster is a 2004 animated feature film and the seventh of a series of direct-to-video animated films based upon the Scooby-Doo Saturday morning cartoons. In it, the Mystery Inc. gang encounter the Loch Ness Monster.

This time the gang are on holiday at Blake Castle, Daphne’s Scottish ancestral home, helping her family host a Highland games event. But when something gigantic – and very, very scary – appears outside the castle window, mystery and mayhem begin as Scooby-Doo and crew try to solve one of history’s longest-running mysteries, the myth of the Loch Ness Monster…

This movie is one of the few films to feature both a fake monster (actually two fakes) and a real one (the real Nessie is captured on film and seen by Scooby-Doo at the end).

“The animation has evolved well. The Hanna-Barbera team has wisely embraced the stylings of their eastern brethren, and the anime influence is clearly evident. The enhanced facial expressions give the characters more life and the varied camera angles give the film more depth. The chase sequences are a perfect example at how cinematic the franchise has become.” Michael Stailey, DVD Verdict
