‘It’s coming …and it’s deadly!’

Epidemic is a 2018 American body horror feature film directed by Stephen Michael Giglio from a screenplay co-written with Adam Romanchik.

The Pomerantz Pictures production stars Andrew Hunsicker, Amanda K. Morales, Gina Destra, Mike Sutton, Chloe Carroll, Daniel Byrne, Marquis Valdez, Shelley Brietling, Joe Walz, Gabby Scarantino, and Grant Behmke.

Plot:

A deadly pathogen is unleashed and unknowingly carried to Dana (Amanda K. Morales)’s thirtieth birthday party, where her estranged father, Rufus (Andrew Hunsicker), is coming to make amends.

What begins as a family drama soon escalates to a horrific turning point as the epidemic spreads and Rufus fights to save his daughter’s life…

” …this film has a run-time of 71 minutes. And the last 6 minutes of the film are the closing credits. So that’s 65 minutes of actual story. And with all the certainty I can muster, I can declare this: if your just-over-an-hour-long film is able to feel boring and drawn out – even with that minimal of a run-time – you’re in big trouble buster.” Horrorfreak News

“The acting is a downside though, it’s not totally awful but is rather awkward with some wildly differing character personality changes. Lead female Dana (Amanda K. Morales) goes from a strong willed character to a pathetic wreck in a matter of minutes. There are various other dodgy elements to the characters but underneath it all I believe it to be a pretty decent attempt.” Horrorscreams Videovault

“While Epidemic sometimes suffered a bit by its design in general it was a fun enough little horror. The small cast led to a more intimate feeling story, while the special effects were perfectly fine throughout. I just felt that sometimes the more supernatural elements (such as a dream sequence) felt at odds with the more realistic drama moments.” The Rotting Zombie

” …this is more of a character piece, about a father honestly wanting to make up to his daughter and fighting his inner demons – and actually seeing the “outer” demons waaay too late because of it. And it’s the clever blend between these two very separate approaches, paired with a subtle direction and strong performances by all that really makes this movie, and puts it way beyond your usual genre fare!” Search My Trash

“A good concept with creepy features, Giglio’s latest film is a little too brightly shot to capture a dark scary feel. The father’s alcoholism may have played well into the later turns of the script but the combination of the two is what leads me to reference the Lifetime network as much as I talk about the horrors.” Without Your Head
