Plot:

In a world where giant monsters and humans collide, the monsters are superstar athletes and compete in a popular professional wrestling global sport called Monster Wrestling.

A young girl named Winnie (Geraldine Viswanathan) seeks to follow in her father’s footsteps as a manager by coaching a lovable underdog yet-inexperienced monster named Steve (Will Arnett). Winnie plans to turn Steve into a champion so that he can go up against the reigning champion Tentacular (Terry Crews)…

Reviews:

Rumble has fun moments that kids will probably love […] The maturity and spark of sharper content simply does not reflect the overall quality here. At the end of the day, Rumble is perfectly serviceable for a kid, yet leaves much to be desired as an adult.” Josh at the Movies

“Kids may get into the “action,” but for me there was one sight gag and one sight gag only that pays off. One of the beasts eyes the Prop that Made Wrestling What It Is Today — a folding chair. Great! It’ll turn the tide of the match […] Aside from that, and the “get knocked down, get back up again” messaging, there’s nothing to Rumble.” Movie Nation

“For such a tactile aesthetic, the visual jokes are few, and of the movie’s WWE references, a fleeting voice cameo of Michael Buffer as an announcer is the only one that resonates. Low on inspiration and creative juice, Rumble would like to bring down the house but hardly causes a tremor.” New York Times

” …for all its faults, for all the things the movie doesn’t do right, the amusing and endearing aspects remain front and center. The manner in which it plays out may be de rigueur, but we still find ourselves cheering for Steve and Winnie as they try to save the city and beat Tentacular (even if Tentacular is clearly the best character the movie has to offer).” The TV and Film Guy’s Reviews

Release date:

In the USA, Rumble will be released on December 15, 2021, on Paramount+ after previous planned theatrical releases were cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic.
