‘Once you wake up the nightmare begins’
Cryo is a 2022 science fiction horror film about a mysterious killer stalking scientists in a cryosleep facility.

Directed by Barrett Burgin from a screenplay co-written with Mason D. Davis. Produced by Westin Cross and Matthew Siemers.

Plot:
In an underground facility, five scientists wake from cryosleep with no memory of who they are or how long they’ve been asleep. They soon make a shocking realisation: a killer is hunting them down there, and may even be hiding among them…

Reviews:

” …this looks better than 90% of the movies that come my way for review. It also has a stronger plot, better tension and moments where I genuinely was surprised by the turns that the film makes […] That said — the movie could lose thirty minutes and not suffer for it.” B&S About Movies

Cryo is a wonderfully executed sci-fi whodunit that just tears through its two hour runtime, while keeping you on the edge of your seat every step of the way. There’s a deft hand at work balancing all the moving parts in a film like this, while also relegating the solution to the film’s narrative puzzle just out of reach. It was a feat to behold…” Cinapse

“The whole film should have been snappier and shorter. Clocking in at almost two hours is really pushing it for a film like this. The entire cast is competent, but they just can’t breathe life into the terminally murky-looking Cryo.” J.B. Spins

“It is definitely worth watching if you are a fan of confusing plots, sci-fi, amnesia and dystopian themes. It was a bit slow-paced at times as in there were scenes that we could have done without but I think there’s a huge potential laying in front of this genre and the directors.” Literature Geek

” …for all of the low-key stakes and restrained storytelling on display here, there is rarely a moment that we can’t feel the filmmakers’ playing a game of distraction and convolution with us. Cryo quickly starts to feel as if its plotting is simply going around in circles.” 2 out of 4, Mark Reviews Movies

“It loses its themes and messages as it becomes too bound in its inner workings, clocking in at a run time that is just under two hours. There is an abundant amount of potential in its story and characters, but the execution could have been better. That does not make it bad or unwatchable—it simply needs the right audience that holds the patience and compassion to keep going with it.” Movieweb

“Viewers will find no such reward for their attention here. While not without merit, Cryo is so bland for most of its runtime that not even a transformative ending makes for a net-positive viewing experience.” 2 out of 5, Screen Rant

“Burgin and Davis obviously wanted to make a statement but viewers will stop caring long before the film gets to it. Cryo is two hours of unrelenting boredom capped off by an entirely unsurprising ending. Unless you need to be put into a deep sleep there’s no reason to subject yourself to this.” 1/5 Voices from the Balcony
