Reviews:
“Grimcutty, itself, is creepiest from afar, and the creature design is by far the film’s highlight. Gen Z teens living online may get more than a few jump scares out of Grimcutty, while others will just find it bland, derivative, and unevenly acted. It may be better than the 2018 feature Slender Man, but at this point, just save your screen time.” Grade: C- The Artful Critic

“Whether the Grimcutty monster actually existed is not really made clear, as the film seems to maintain ambiguity over it. Although Leah and Amir both see children hovering in mid-air, they do not ever see the monster, and it can be thought that they hallucinated what they saw out of the extreme tension and anxiety they were in at those particular moments.” Digital Mafia Talkies

” …It’s the perfect example of parents trying to “help their kids” without truly understanding what’s going on. Parents talk to parents, while the kids (teenagers and younger) talk to one another and are confused by their parents’ strangely identical behavior. This makes Grimcutty relevant in ways I never expected.” 3/5, Heaven of Horror

“The script meanders after a certain point and seems less focused on its core theme. Our changing perceptions of the characters are central to unraveling the core of the film’s narrative. However, it feels too uneven to take Grimcutty (the personification of the exaggerated horror about the internet) seriously.” High on Films

“The film was not outstanding but was an alright watch if you are a diehard CreepyPasta fan then Grimcutty may be a good watch for you.” 2/5, Horror Facts

“It is not hard to see parallels between Grimcutty’s online terror and their real-life censoring of customers they disagree with and facilitation of cancellation-bullying […] That undercurrent also helps make Grimcutty so watchable, despite its so-so monster design work. Recommended for horror fans who can appreciate its neurotic dimensions…” J.B. Spins

” …Grimcutty is just so poorly made on every level. The creature design of Grimcutty is very cool, but entirely lacks personality. There was clearly not much budget here, which is totally okay, but why does the baddie look like a reject version of Ryuk from Death Note? None of the younger cast seem to have any traditional practice in acting, and among the adults, only Asha’s mother Lea emerges as noteworthy.” Josh at the Movies

“You can easily tell Grimcutty was made quickly and on the cheap – but that’s not an immediate sign it will be an internet fail.  Plenty of great movies have been shot with little resources but a lot of ingenuity and spirit. I think where Grimcutty is tripped up is by its length.  At 100 minutes, there’s barely enough material to cover ¼ of that time.” The MN Movie Fan

“Something I really enjoyed about Grimcutty and what I thought worked best for it, though, was how relatable the story was […] More than just a horror movie, Grimcutty is the passing of the torch from generation to generation, and the fear and mistrust during those tenuous years.” Nightmarish Conjurings

“The idea of bringing a meme to life was a take that I wasn’t expecting. There were a lot of positives during the film; I thought the acting was solid, and when you didn’t have the “monster” shoved down your throat, I thought the film had a stellar vibe to it. Creative writing and directing can do far more for this genre than an imaginary monster.” 3/5, Overly Honest Movie Reviews

” …Grimcutty is a weak offering to the horror genre. It tries to send an important message about kids and social media, but it ends up in the spam folder. The use of ASMR was painful, yet I’m aware many will love it. That is certainly one creative way to divide your audience. ” 1.5/5, Ready Steady Cut

“Unfortunately a few halfway decent attack scenes and some interesting but undeveloped ideas can’t save Grimcutty from a terrible script and a lack of interesting characters beyond the two leads. The parents, most of whom act as if they’ve never been on the internet in their lives, are like cardboard cutouts…” 1.5/5, Voices from the Balcony
