‘Create something to fear’
The First Omen is a 2024 horror film in which young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church. However, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate. The movie is a prequel to the 1976 horror classic.
After the unbelievably awful Exorcist: Believer Blumhouse cash grab it’s a wonder that anyone might be interested in The Omen franchise being resurrected. But the producers of Hollywood horror have no qualms. The first trailer below contains a reverse snatch of dialogue from the original.

Director Arkasha Stevenson (Legion; Briarpatch) has made her film debut at the helm working from a screenplay co-written with Tim Smith and Keith Thomas based on a story by Timothy Visentin. The movie was produced by David S. Goyer and Keith Levine and executive produced by Whitney Brown and Cristina Giubbetti.

The movie stars Nell Tiger Free (Settlers; Game of Thrones), Ralph Ineson (Lords of Misrule; The Pope’s Exorcist; The Northman; The Green Knight; Brahms: The Boy II; The Witch 2015), Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales; The Limehouse Golem; I, Frankenstein; Shaun of the Dead; The Phantom of the Opera: The Motion Picture), Sonia Braga, Tawfeek Barhom, Andrea Arcangeli, Anton Alexander, Ishtar Currie-Wilson, Maria Caballero, Mia McGovern Zaini and Sylvia Panacione.

Plot:
When a young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters darkness that causes her to question her faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate…

Release:
In the US, 20th Century Studios will release The First Omen theatrically on April 5, 2024. Meanwhile, the MPA has rated the movie ‘R’ for “Violent content, grisly/disturbing images and brief graphic nudity.”
Franchise:
The original Omen horror classic took $60,922,980 at the US domestic box office (worldwide figures are not available, alas) and spawned sequels Damien: Omen II (1978), Omen III: The Final Conflict (1981) and TV movie Omen IV: The Awakening (1991). In 2006, a seemingly pointless carbon copy remake of the 1976 film starring Liev Schreiber, Julia Stiles and Mia Farrow. Nonetheless, the remake grossed $119,974,972 worldwide on a reported budget of $25 million so it was hardly pointless for the producers.
