‘A Nordic myth awakens’
From Darkness is a 2024 mystery horror film about a park ranger and her ex investigating a missing woman’s case in a Swedish nature reserve. They explore haunted caves, face their past, and uncover dark secrets while battling a mythical creature.
The movie was directed by Philip W. da Silva from a screenplay by Jimmy Nivrén Olsson. It was produced by Viktoria Jern, Åke Lundström and Gustav Stern and executive produced by Ingemar Johansson.
The Pentagram Film-Eyra Media co-production stars Oscar Skagerberg, Rakel Benér, Peter Mörlin, Lars Adsten, Amanda Kilpeläinen Arvidsson, Dux, Archana Khanna, Thomas Hedengran and Lennart B. Sandelin.
Plot:
Park ranger Angelica (Rakel Benér) seeks the help of her former boyfriend, Viktor (Oscar Skagerberg), a dog handler, to search for a missing woman in a dangerous nature reserve in Sweden.
The search is complicated by a disturbing myth about the cave banshee, a vengeful spirit from the Nordic folklore that once lured miners to their deaths in the reserve’s treacherous caves. As they delve deeper into the forest, Viktor starts to question his sanity and whether the rumoured banshee is more than just a myth.
To make matters worse, Angelica and Viktor share a painful history with the haunted place. Two years ago, they were unable to locate a child who vanished there during a storm, causing a rift between them that has yet to heal. Viktor must now confront his troubled past and work together with Angelica to survive the night and unravel the mystery behind the woman’s disappearance…
