‘It’s not a possession… it’s a return’
Yellow Eyes is a supernatural horror film about a young couple that inherit a house containing a mysterious relic that hosts the spirit of a powerful demon, and the wife of the man it possesses must find an exorcist to save him.

The movie was directed by Jesse Korman from a screenplay by Mickey Solis, and produced by Joe Swanberg and Ben Gojer. It stars Michael Kunicki, Nena Martins, Jimmy Chung, William Derrick III, Margo O’Connell, Brian Rooney and Joette Waters.

Plot [contains spoilers]:
A young married couple, Brad and Julia, inherit a run-down house in rural New England. While renovating the property, they uncover a strange ancient idol hidden beneath the floorboards.

The discovery initially seems like a curiosity, but the object is covered in a mysterious black oil and carries a much darker secret. Once Brad comes into contact with it, his personality and behaviour begin to change. His eyes develop an unnatural yellow colour, he experiences disturbing hallucinations and his physical condition progressively deteriorates.

Soon afterwards, Brad begins behaving strangely. He becomes increasingly aggressive and obsessive, suffers hallucinations and starts exhibiting physical symptoms that cannot be explained. Most disturbing of all, his eyes begin turning yellow, while the mysterious black oil continues to manifest itself.

Julia eventually realises that Brad isn’t simply suffering from a psychological or medical problem: something has taken possession of him. Desperate to save her husband, she seeks help and learns that the idol is connected to an obscure cult and ancient demonic rituals involving the mysterious oil.

As the entity’s influence grows, Brad becomes increasingly detached from his former self. The demon appears to feed upon human desire and darker impulses, turning temptation into an addiction and ultimately demanding blood.

Julia must therefore find a way to break the entity’s hold before Brad is completely consumed. With the situation reaching a crisis point and a full moon approaching, an urgent purification/exorcism ritual is attempted. The confrontation succeeds in freeing Brad from the immediate possession. However, the experience leaves him physically and psychologically changed, suggesting that contact with the ancient entity may have consequences that cannot simply be exorcised away…
