‘The end is high’

Bong of the Living Dead is a 2017 comedy horror film directed by Max Groah from a screenplay co-written with Tim Mayo (short: Never Say Dead). The movie stars Tiffany Arnold, Eric Boso and Daniel Alan Kiely.

Reviews:

“Really, the only major misstep is that toward the last act, there’s a few scenes that attempt to be Big Emotional Moments. That’s all good, but the movie had been so cartoony and slapstick leading up to these scenes that genuine emotion just feels weird, and totally out of place.” Cultured Vultures

“The makeup is reminiscent of Evil Dead 2 and using Columbus, OH as a backdrop for the film allows the ‘it could happen anywhere’ effect to work. The film doesn’t try to be something it’s not. They knew their audience and gave them what they wanted.” East Coast Horror Group

“There was solid dialogue carried out by the cast although a few of the characters seemed to overact at times early in the film. The editing and montage sequences were very well done and the movie had a very professional looking overall “cleanliness” to it. Any acting issues were certainly overcome by the second act and the characters became quite endearing.” Fitz of Horror

” …the scenes that provoked belly laughs are not forgotten. The film did not drag but certain scenes felt unnecessary and weren’t helpful in clarifying how the plot was unfolding. Some actions were slightly confusing, and this could be contributed to a number of things. Still, the final moments were clear as day and very, very heart wrenching.” Morbidly Beautiful

Bong of the Living Dead is a shaggy, scrappy, loose and lively zombie comedy with a charm all its own. It’s reliably fun and finds hidden gems of comedy from its deep supporting cast of oddballs. The main characters do fine work pushing at the boundaries of their stock archetypes, with Kiely as the wild man standout.” Psycho Drive-In

“I suspected that this was a risky venture for a solo, straight-headed viewing and I’m afraid this was the case – again. Bong of the Living Dead is harmless enough, but all rather thin and protracted, with too many regurgitated lines from other horror movies, too much in the way of time-filling domestic sequences and sadly, more lulls than laughs.” Warped Perspective
