‘Documenting the takeover of your soul’

The Possession Diaries is a 2019 American supernatural horror feature film directed by Juan Frausto (Kidnapped Souls) from a screenplay co-written with Rich Wealthy. The Stroboscope Studios production stars Delilah Cotto, Noel Gugliemi and James Russo.

Rebecca Clarkson is suffering from demonic attacks after playing with an Ouija board one night. Fearful people will think she’s crazy, or lying, she documents her experiences in a video blog on her webcam over the course of a week. In a series of escalating events, shadowing figures appearing and disappearing, the creepy factor grows.

Soon, the supernatural activity becomes violent, and Rebecca is repeatedly attacked by the demonic forces until finally, evil takes possession of her body. Will Rebecca be able to beat the Devil and protect her soul, or will she die, and lose her soul to hellfire?

Reviews [click links to read more]:

“This mostly takes place in one room, with check-ins via video blog, as Rebecca goes from normal weirdo girl to possessed weirdo girl, taking everyone in her life along with her. Your enjoyment of this film will depend on how much you like possession and found footage style films. I’m in for the former, not the latter, so I halfway enjoyed it.” B&S About Movies

” …set in one room, plus computer screen; there are some spooky special effects at times (particularly shadowy hands seen coming around Rebecca’s head), but a good deal of the time it is difficult to grasp what she is reacting to, or why she is steadily becoming more unwell […] this film is not worth any horror fan’s time…” Alice Field, Ready Steady Cut!

“The visual effects are weak, even for a movie with a low budget. The sound effects do not do much help, as many times they do not correctly represent what is happening on screen or try to be horrific and are left far from being so. The acting is also below what is expected, and the characters have nothing interesting that supports them but are a composite of badly acted clichés.” Dante Yurei, 10th Circle

“The webcam angle let The Possession Diaries be made on a very low budget. Apart from a couple of visitors, it’s basically one location and one person show. We do get a cameo from Eileen Dietz (Clownado; The Exorcist). But that just reminds us of how scary possession can be when done right.” Jim Morazzini, Voices from the Balcony

The Possession Diaries will be available on DVD and Digital from Uncork’d Entertainment on June 4, 2019.
