Kill Mode is 2019 Dutch science-fiction action feature film set in the gritty near future, in which an ex-freedom fighter reluctantly jumps back into the fold after discovering a disturbing secret that could bring down the company that owns the world.

Directed by Thijs Meuwese (and a sequel to his Molly, 2017) from a screenplay co-written with Kris Patmo, the Get Off The Roads Films production stars Dave Mantel, Julia Batelaan, Yasmin Lois Blake and Cyriel Guds.

Plot:

It is the year 2027, eight years after the first outbreak of The Sickness, a highly contagious, adaptive and lethal virus. The world is now run by a pharmaceutical corporation called The Company, which distributes a treatment for the virus but charges a high price for it, putting the majority of people in a state of poverty and dependence.

David Oscar has had enough fighting. He has lost all hope and hides in a small illegal clinic. David is a former member of The Flux, a rebel movement depicted as a terrorist organization in the media. The Flux believes The Company itself is responsible for The Sickness.

After years of hiding from his past, David is found by members of The Flux, who persuade him to take part in an important mission that they believe will lead to a cure for The Sickness. What they discover, when breaking into a secure facility of The Company, is not a cure to The Sickness, but only a young girl called Molly. She has been held captive and was subjected to Company experiments…

Reviews [click links to read more]:

“The action tends to use a bit more shaky-cam than I like and there’s the odd bit of questionable CGI. But neither is too bad, especially given the budget Kill Mode had. Kill Mode takes the dystopian, post-apocalyptic future of Molly and adds a bit of something that falls between X-Men and Firestarter. And an ending that sets up the films to become a trilogy. I’ll be looking forward to it.” Voices from the Balcony
