‘Take a deep breath, this is going to hurt’

Sick Nurses is a 2007 Thai supernatural horror feature film written and directed by Piraphan Laoyont and Thodsapol Siriwiwat. The Sahamongkol Film International production stars Chon Wachananon, Wichan Jarujinda and Chidjan Rujiphun. The original title is สวยลากไส้ or Suay Laak Sai

In a neglected hospital, seven attractive young nurses and a seemingly respectable doctor have been selling body parts of dead patients on the black market.

However, when one of the nurses falls in love with the doctor, she urges them all to get out of the scam.

Threatening to go to the police, she is viciously murdered by the other nurses and dies whilst uttering a vengeful curse.

Seven days later, her tormented soul returns, and, preying on each of the women’s obsessions and weaknesses she exacts her horrifying revenge…

Sick Nurses is the perfect antidote for tired genre fans, packing in more excitement and far-out thrills than a dozen of its erstwhile peers. Hugely entertaining and slickly directed, it will hopefully find its audience on DVD around the world, as well as providing proof that Asian horror still has plenty to offer in the right hands.” Beyond Hollywood

“Co-directors Piraphan Laoyont and Thodsapol Siriwiwat have good taste in girls. If nothing else, their new Thai horror film is peopled with outrageously cute actresses, each photographed for maximum appeal. Unfortunately, that’s about where it stops. From there, Sick Nurses is a jumble of half-formed ideas and half-executed results.” Combustible Celluloid

“I know it’s hard to convince anyone out there to give a long-haired Asian ghost movie a chance these days, but Sick Nurses really deserves one for those of you craving a little idiosyncratic Giallo mixed into their horror story. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on what this directorial duo is up to next cause Sick Nurses is one fine debut.” Dread Central

” …the movie compliments the female cast’s natural beauty with some fantastic color schemes and pop-art visuals making the film a seriously nifty piece of sexy eye candy. On top of that, the film also features some pretty creative kill scenes and an impressive amount of grisly gore and fun black humor.” DVD Talk

“To some extent, this is just a variation on the common Asian trope of the long-haired ghost girl […] The plot is clearly nonsense; nobody notices any of the earlier victims are missing, for example, and I’ve no clue what the “13 o’clock” stuff was about. Yet I can’t deny, I found myself having an increasingly fun time, as things escalated, growing more bloody and twisted.” Girls with Guns

“As terrified victims flee from one incongruously decorated and notably empty hospital room to the next, events rise just above standard slasher mechanics with shots of jet-black humor and some nifty surprises. Cast is mainly debutants whose variable perfs are covered up for the most part by keen editing and vigorous direction by the capable helming duo.” Variety

“Insane Thai spoof on the J-horror genre involving ghosts with long hair and plot twists […] The editing, cinematography and horror set-pieces are over-the-top, amusing and confusing at the same time, piling on the weird ideas for every scene.” The Worldwide Celluloid Massacre
