KILLROY WAS HERE (2020) preview of comedy horror anthology movie with trailer

Killroy Was Here is a 2020 American comedy horror anthology film based around the phenomenon of the infamous “Kilroy was here” graffiti. Its origin is debated, but the graffiti and the distinctive accompanying doodle became associated with American GIs in the 1940s: a bald-headed man (sometimes depicted as having a few hairs) with a prominent nose peeking over a wall with his fingers clutching the wall.

Directed by Kevin Smith (Yoga Hosers; Tusk) from a screenplay co-written with Andrew McElfresh, the movie stars Azita Ghanizada, Ryan O’Nan, Harley Quinn Smith, Chris Jericho and Justin Kucsulain.

Release:

Originally announced for release in 2020, Killroy Was Here is now scheduled for a theatrical release in the United States in 2021, by View Askew Productions, SModcast Pictures and A Semkhor Production.

Production:

Production began on June 15, 2017, in Sarasota, Florida, and principal photography wrapped in October 2018. In April 2020, Smith revealed that the tone and style of Killroy Was Here was inspired by Creepshow (1982).

The project is a retooling of Smith and McElfresh’s Anti-Claus movie, which was initially cancelled after the release of Krampus (2015) due to the similar format. Robert Kurtzman designed the titular character, who described it as a “long-nosed monster.” like the aforementioned graffiti doodle.
