‘Will Earth wait for us?’

The Colony is a 2021 German science fiction thriller film set in the distant future, about a female astronaut, shipwrecked on decimated Earth. She must decide the fate of the wasteland’s remaining populace. Formerly known as Tides

Directed by Tim Fehlbaum (Apocalypse aka Hell) from a screenplay co-written with Mariko Minoguchi and Jo Rogers, the Constantin Films production stars Nora Arnezeder (Army of the Dead; Maniac 2012), Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Iain Glen and Sope Dirisu.

Reviews:

Tides doesn’t have a great script. Its details are frustratingly vague, and if you care about strict logic, I’m pretty sure the math here doesn’t remotely add up. But if you’re simply in the mood for an unabashed sci-fi genre film, you’ve got yourself a sure bet. So sure, in fact, you might find it looking familiar.” @ssholes Watching Movies

“The familiarity would be less of a problem if the momentum of the opening stages was sustained, but the film’s second half, mostly set indoors in the more militarised Kepler settlement, has pacing issues, while also lacking the earlier tactility and visual interest. And despite the early hints towards Tides becoming an action movie like most of the films it resembles, it’s ultimately light on exciting set-pieces.” Little White Lies

” …while the film isn’t quite lo-fi sci-fi, director Tim Fehlbaum doesn’t let any budgetary constraints get in his way, generally opting to keep the action as claustrophobic as possible, with panoramic CGI vistas of an earth destroyed by arrogance and indifference kept to the bare minimum. It’s not as though Tides is particularly bad, just exceedingly familiar in a way that renders it forgettable.” The Upcoming
