Reviews:

“Some exemplary ingredients work hard to rework an overdone story into something fresh, but an over-reliance of filling air time with very little makes The Exorcism of Carmen Farias a slightly dull affair.” The Hollywood News

“Sure, it has its fair share of flaws, especially with the plot and the characters, but they won’t bother you while you’re watching it. The great horror outweighs them all, so unless you have to be objective for something like a movie review, you’re not going to care much about them. You’ll be so engrossed in the atmosphere that you’ll find yourself having a great time with the movie…” Horror Obsessive

“Director Rodrigo Fiallega, working from a script by Molo Alcocer Delano, follows a very well-trod path in this Mexican horror movie – which even gives away the direction it’s taking in its title, let alone the art direction, the sickly ochre-ish pallor that hangs over everything, and the usual bumps in the night and box of videotape home movies…” The Kim Newman Website

” …the bombastic incidents of supernatural harassment, although effective in a sledgehammer to the face kind of way, pale against the more considered aspects of spooky bedevilment […] Personable and richly atmospheric this pacy possession flick is an entertaining blend of technical guile and demonic hysteria.” The People’s Movies

” …The Exorcism of Carmen Farías is set mostly within the confines of the old dark house and milks the creepiness of its interiors for all that they are worth […] cinematographer Carolina Costa likes to make circuits through the rooms in unnervingly disembodied sweeps, and even, in one bravura single-take tracking shot, heads from upstairs where Carmen lies unconscious on the floor to downstairs where, some two decades earlier, Consuelo’s funeral is taking place…” Projected Figures
