The Uptown 6 Productions movie stars Mira Sorvino, Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws), Cress Williams, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Derek Russo.

Reviews:

“There’s a lot going on in Crime Story, but nothing really happens. Turns of plot add complication to the central criminal crisis, but suspense doesn’t increase, with Lipsius taking on too much with all these characters […] The material is “based on actual events,” but Crime Story plays like an average movie struggling to be a more profound study of mistakes and honor.” Blu-ray.com

“Crime Story qualifies for Old Man Action, but I will probably forget most of it very soon. It was nice seeing Mia Sorvino, but she honestly does not bring a lot to her role. […] They say you can’t judge a book by its cover, but in this case you can judge a movie by its poster, because the poster for Crime Story is super-generic and so is the overall film.” Bulletproof Action

“Dreyfuss and Sorvino act mightily, throwing lots of intensity into their scenes. Sometimes they’re magnificent, but most of the time their performances feel unshaped or too strained. The story and its twists feel rather muted compared to the intensity of the scene-by-scene exchanges. There’s no real suspense.” Common Sense Media

“The family drama is always contrived and horribly delivered nonsense, and Richard Dreyfuss simply looks tired. This is one crime story not even worth telling.” Flickering Myth

“This isn’t a slight against Dreyfuss, since age and everything that accompanies it comes to us all, but every time the actor’s Ben Myers physically confronts an opponent here, it just looks silly. There are other problems with Lipsius’ movie, which is an overly convoluted variation on a simple revenge tale and finally arrives at a note of nihilism that’s more a shrug of narrative defeat than a statement of intent.” Mark Reviews Movies

“Sorvino, in particular, seems bent on infusing the flimsy script with conviction by simply bursting into tears at every opportunity — a bizarre choice, since Nicki is supposed to be a tough cookie capable (we eventually learn) of some pretty coldblooded decisions. Dreyfuss is just miscast, his attempts at grounding Ben further undermined by that awful voiceover patter…” Variety
