BABY MONEY (2021) Review of home invasion crime thriller

‘A mother would do anything’

Baby Money is a 2021 American crime thriller in which a home invasion turns into a bloody shootout leaving one of the thieves trapped.

Co-directed by Mikhael Bassilli and Luc Walpoth – both making their feature debut – from a screenplay co-written by Bassilli and MJ Palo. Produced by Mikhael Bassilli, Brandon Henry Rodriguez, Luc Walpoth and Nick Zuvic.

The movie stars Danay Garcia, Michael Drayer, Joey Kern, Taja V. Simpson, Jean St. James and Travis Hammer.

With little money, an eviction notice, and a baby on the way, Minny (Danay Garcia) and Gil (Michael Drayer) agree to be the lookout and getaway driver in a suburban robbery in hopes of scoring a mysterious purple box.

When things don’t go as planned, and the home invasion turns into a bloody shootout, pregnant Minny runs leaving Gil behind in hiding. Now, the pair must plan an escape…

“Disappointingly things that are presented as major plot points, and I would have expected to take Baby Money’s plot in different directions end up being largely irrelevant. Technically well shot and acted, Baby Money may be OK for undemanding fans or those who want something they can follow without much effort. Most others will find it dull and predictable.” Voices from the Balcony
