Ambulance is a 2022 American action thriller about two robbers that steal an ambulance when their heist goes horribly wrong.

Directed by Michael Bay (The Rock, Armageddon, The Island, Transformers) from a screenplay written by Chris Fedak, based on the original story and screenplay for the 2005 Danish film Ambulancen by Laurits Munch-Petersen and Lars Andreas Pedersen.

Plot:
Decorated veteran Will Sharp (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), desperate for money to cover his wife’s medical bills, asks for help from the one person he shouldn’t—his adoptive brother Danny (Jake Gyllenhaal).

A charismatic career criminal, Danny instead offers him a score with the biggest bank heist in Los Angeles history: $32 million. With his wife’s survival on the line, Will can’t say no. But when their getaway goes spectacularly wrong, the desperate brothers hijack an ambulance with a wounded cop clinging to life and ace EMT (Eiza González) onboard.

In a high-speed pursuit that never stops, Will and Danny must evade a massive, city-wide law enforcement response, keep their hostages alive, and somehow try not to kill each other, all while executing the most insane escape L.A. has ever seen…

Reviews:

“Michael Bay’s tribute to the emergency services (which involves blowing several of them up) is noisy, messy and frequently absurd — yet still somehow his most gleefully entertaining effort in at least a decade.” Empire

“Michael Bay injects a weapons-grade dose of steroids into his remake of the so-so 2005 Danish thriller of the same name, which is powered at all times by the director’s shameless commitment to ludicrously entertaining excess. It may, however, understandably be both too much and too little for some audiences to take.” Flickering Myth

“Overall this was a really fun movie for those seeking intense moments. It was a film that action lovers would enjoy. No overly complicated story to understand, just a simple robbery gone wrong with plenty of cars “flying” around and lots of gun fights with some spectacularly done action scenes.” Mike’s Movie Moments

” …those heading into a Michael Bay movie get their money’s worth in Ambulance, which outdoes the director’s Transformers films with its practical stunt work, slam-bang car crashes, and fiery real-world explosions. Ambulance is the kind of action movie they just don’t make anymore, and never takes its foot off the gas pedal once it gets going.” The Prague Reporter

Release:
Universal will release Ambulance theatrically worldwide from 16th March (in Indonesia) onwards with the UK on 25th March and USA on 8th April.
