Plot:
The once peaceful and booming Yellowstone City has fallen on hard times, but when a local prospector strikes gold, things seem to be turning around. Any hope is soon shattered when the prospector is found dead and the Sheriff quickly arrests a mysterious newcomer.

Yet nothing is so simple in this sleepy western town, and more than a few of the locals have secrets to keep and reasons to kill. As the brutal murders continue, pitting neighbour against neighbour, Yellowstone City goes down a bloody path to a final showdown that not all will survive…

Review:

“The large cast each give fine enough performances for the roles they’re given, with a few disappointments among them. Each actor is trying their best with what they’re given, but it ultimately just feels uninspired and unexciting. Most of the reason to reach the end of this film is simply to find out who the killer was…” Cinefield

“Long and smacking of budgetary restrictions, this Western nevertheless moves at an unhurried pace, balancing its thoughtful ideas with vivid storytelling and strong characters. It’s rather impressive how well Murder at Yellowstone City overcomes its limitations thanks to clever casting and purposeful themes.” Common Sense Media

“Even though accommodating the large cast hampers the rhythm and momentum of the narrative, they make the most of their moments, so the film is at least engaging in that regard. However, there’s little new offered that makes the case for creative use of the tried and true tropes.” 2.5 out of 5, Elements of Madness

“With a sprawling cast of familiar faces, Murder at Yellowstone City reveals itself as character-driven from the start. Where an opening explosion and smoke effects leave much to be desired, the town itself does not […] The script isn’t without its messiness, but that dynamic remains clear as day.” Grade: C+, The Film Stage

Murder at Yellowstone City is a real test of patience at times, but once all the poker chips are on the table and the story is focused on action, it is somewhat tolerable. Still, one wishes it engaged more emotionally considering how hard it’s going in that department. There’s no gold here, but there are one or two serviceable shootouts…” Flickering Myth

“It’s a slow-chugging western that surprisingly features few shoot-outs. Most of those happen in the last 25 minutes.  That said, as a whodunit murder mystery, Murder at Yellowstone City entertains. At the very least, this film is a reminder that it’s pretty terrifying when people take law and justice into their own hands.” 6.5 out of 10, Horror Buzz
