‘Don’t float the river’
#Float is a 2022 American supernatural horror film about young friends on a river trip facing a deadly paranormal force.
Written, co-produced and directed by Zac Locke (producer of Black Christmas, 2019). Produced by Justin Anderson, Jensine Carr, Rebecca Rufer and Mikey Bill Taylor.
The Rotting Press-The Straits co-production stars Kaya Coleman (Dangerous Game: The Legacy Murders), Scarlett Sperduto (Those Who Walk Away), Grant Morningstar (Meathook), Kate Mayhew, Christina Nguyen (Lion), Matt Wise, Miguel Muñoz, Cristobal Reyes and Ophelia Lichtenstein.
Young, beautiful and full of life, vlogger Kali (Kate Mayhew) and her friends are heading to the river for their annual float, but it’s the first time since their friend ODed and drowned last year.
Their partying turns deadly as a sinister paranormal force plunges them into a life-and-death struggle forcing them to face their own fears as they turn on each other and proceed to die one by one…
“In the end, Locke ends up with a debut film that, while not entirely successful is watchable and has some interesting elements. It’s also quite possible that viewers closer to the character’s ages than I am might find some of them more relatable than I did. Between that and its summer setting, it could make for decent escapist fare on a cold winter night.” 3 out of 5, Voices from the Balcony
In the US, XYZ Films will release #Float theatrically nationwide on December 8, 2022.
XYZ Films’ James Emanuel Shapiro commented, “Very few people know the horror genre and what makes horror work more than Zac Locke does; so when he told me he was directed directing his first film, I had to work on it. I was thrilled in that the film came out as good as I expected it to and I can’t wait for #Float to be celebrated as one of the best horror debuts of 2022.”
