‘The plot chickens…’
Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget is a 2023 British animated action comedy-adventure film and a belated sequel to Chicken Run (2000).
Directed by Sam Fell (Flushed Away, The Tale of Despereaux, ParaNorman) from a screenplay co-written by Karey Kirkpatrick, John O’Farrell and Rachel Tunnard.
The Aardman production will star Thandie Newton and Zachary Levi as the voices of Ginger and Rocky, respectively. And the pair now have a daughter named Molly (Bella Ramsey). Returning cast members include Imelda Staunton as Bunty, Jane Horrocks as Babs, and Lyn Ferguson as Mac. There will also be several new characters such as Frizzle (Josie Sedgwick-Davies), Fowler (David Bradley), Nick (Romesh Ranganathan), Fetcher (Daniel Mays), and Dr Fry (Nick Mohammed).

Plot:
Having pulled off a death-defying escape from Tweedy’s farm, Ginger has finally found her dream – a peaceful island sanctuary for the whole flock, far from the dangers of the human world. When she and Rocky hatch a little girl called Molly, Ginger’s happy ending seems complete.
However, back on the mainland, the whole of chicken-kind faces a new and terrible threat. For Ginger and her team, even if it means putting their own hard-won freedom at risk – this time, they’re breaking in!

Meanwhile, Aardman also has a new film featuring its most famous creations, Wallace & Gromit, which is in the offing. Nick Park will direct the as-yet-untitled film alongside Merlin Crossingham, who was his second unit director on Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit from a screenplay by Mark Burton (Madagascar; Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit; Shaun the Sheep Movie). The film will premiere exclusively on Netflix around the world in 2024 except in the UK, where it will be shown by the BBC first.
