‘All you have to do is listen’
Monolith is a 2022 sci-fi thriller film in which a disgraced journalist discovers a strange artefact and a possible alien conspiracy.
Directed by Matt Vesely from a screenplay written by Lucy Campbell. Produced by Bettina Hamilton. The Australian production stars Lily Sullivan, the only on-screen actor in the film.

Reviews:
” …strangely gripping supernatural thriller, one that keeps the audience guessing and withholds a few of its secrets […] the film may baffle some viewers and enthral others, but on its own chosen level it works most satisfactorily and it’s another example of an offbeat and impressive Australian film…” The Australian
“Incrementally unfurling the mystery through a series of recordings and conversations, Monolith examines our relationship with information and speculation on the internet. Generating a sublimely ambiguous atmosphere, it leaves the audience mostly in the dark, our own imaginations creating much of the horror.” Battle Royale with Cheese
“Throughout, Sullivan uses a gradual tightening of her muscles to show us the tension building up in her character, despite moving around only within the confines of the room. When, in its final scenes, the film opens up and there’s a flurry of action, it’s a shock. Monolith is a great example of how small things can be used to tell a big story, and it will stay with you.” ★★★★ Eye for Film

“Vesely, working from a marvelous screenplay by Lucy Campbell, masterfully builds the intensity, with Sullivan giving a first-rate performance. Sullivan is, with soem small exception, the only actor viewers see — other performers provide solid voice acting — and she carries the film wonderfully. Go in to Monolith as cold as possible and be prepared for a slow-burn mystery…” Horror Fuel

“As the mystery deepens across Lucy Campbell’s screenplay, director Matt Vesely effectively integrates that unravelling thread within a confined chamber piece that holds one’s attention. Despite some of the horror elements feeling less interesting than the initial intrigue, the film remains rooted to the interviewer’s personal journey and whether she can right previous wrongs regardless of the cost.” ★★★★ The Reviewing Rodders
” …falls sway to the clickbait tropes it intends to send up: red herrings, a tone of suffocating gloom and a desperation to keep the audience on the hook […] The interesting questions raised earlier on evaporate; in their place are reveals that strain credulity and a climax could be slapped on a dozen other flicks.” Variety
