Speak No Evil is a 2024 horror drama film about a family invited to spend a weekend in an idyllic country house. Unfortunately, their dream vacation turns into a psychological nightmare. The movie is a remake of the Danish horror hit Speak No Evil (2022).
The movie was written and directed by James Watkins (Eden Lake; The Woman in Black) based on the screenplay for the 2022 film by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup. Produced by Jason Blum (Five Nights at Freddy’s, M3GAN) for Blumhouse and by Paul Ritchie (McMafia, The Ipcress File) and is executive produced by Beatriz Sequeira for Blumhouse, Jacob Jarek and Christian Tafdrup.
The Blumhouse Productions-Universal Pictures production stars James McAvoy, Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate; Halt; Catch Fire), Aisling Franciosi, Alix West Lefler, Dan Hough and Scoot McNairy (Argo; A Quiet Place Part II).
Plot:
Having met and bonded on holiday, American couple Louise (Mackenzie Davis) and Ben Dalton (Scoot McNairy), who, along with their eleven-year-old daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler), accept the weekend-holiday invitation of Paddy (James McAvoy), his wife Ciara (Aisling Franciosi) and their furtive, mute son Ant (newcomer Daniel Hough) in England. What begins as a dream getaway soon warps into a snarled psychological nightmare…

Speak No Evil will be released by Universal Pictures theatrically in the US on September 13, 2024.
Production:
Principal photography took place in Croatia and Gloucester, England, in May 2023 and was expected to end in July, before filming was suspended for five days due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. In mid-November, production resumed in the UK.
