Reviews:
“Perhaps 138 minutes is a wildly inflated run time for a movie about a murderous, cannibalistic clown, but there isn’t a wasted bucket of blood […] As grimy, gnarly video nasties go, Terrifier 2 is the stuff. It has no more substance than it needs. It’s very successful at what it wants to be.” B+ The Artful Critic

“It is too long, being about an hour longer than the first film […] there are supernatural things throughout, but there’s never any rules established. I know that filmmakers like to keep audiences guessing, but the guessing game is more fun if we have clues to go on […] Still 8/10 for the pure horror, despite those reservations.” BA Harrison

“Bloated but brilliant in places, Terrifier 2 certainly hits home when it comes to its core demographic targeted audience providing them with insanely imaginative kills and gore but the runtime becomes the film’s downfall as other subplots and storylines drag the film on unnecessarily and in the end, it all becomes a little boring.” 3/5, Back to the Movies

“While I do enjoy the advances in the violence and the makeup, as well as the triumphant return of David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown –  the weak script and self-indulgent length, make for a massacre you have to embrace in chunks rather than all at once.” Cinefied

“It felt like an old H.G. Lewis film, turned up to 11 […] Terrifier 2 is best when it does what we are here to see: big, bloody murder. But the attempt at a story is just atrocious. Terrifier 2 tries to be bigger and better than its predecessor when really, we just wanted more of the same.” B- Collider

“It is so rare for a sequel to, dare I say it, be superior to the original movie, but Damien Leone manages to pull that off. With an additional almost 45 minutes of run time, there was some initial fear that Terrifier 2 was going to drag and not deliver on the promise of madness and insanity that fans were hoping for. However, there is so much to enjoy and indulge in as this sequel fires on all cylinders.” Elements of Madness

“Hugely gory and tons of nasty overkill of the women. One of the first female deaths is unconscionable in its protracted violence. The guy playing Art is a delight and I liked the creepy clown girl. Plus it was fun when it went all mystical at the end. But still 2 hours 20 minutes is insanity for a killer clown movie.” Geek Goddesses

“Ok, so the plot mechanics are flimsy. For example, our baddy still has no apparent motivation and attempts to personalise the conflict are vague to the point of self-parody. But then the reason people watch these movies isn’t the intricate plotting – it’s because they want to see a slasher. And they won’t be disappointed.” 4/5, Horror Cult Films

Terrifier 2 is better than the first in nearly every imaginable way. Bigger, nastier, and more fun, each creative death sequence goes preposterously over-the-top […] There were times when I could barely believe what I was seeing. I have to say I am in awe of the practical effects work that went into this project.” Josh at the Movies

“In a nutshell: All your Halloweens have come at once. Damien Leone’s 140-minute Art the Clown epic is a splatter slasher full of absolutely insane levels of butchery realised with incredible practical effects. Over the top, out of control and off the rails, Terrifier 2 is totally wild!” 5/5, Live for Films

” …there’s a commendably high kill count, and Terrifier 2 isn’t afraid to kill off supporting characters that you might have assumed would make it to the final credits. Speaking of which, stick around for a lengthy post-credits sequence that is truly deranged, ending the film with a belter of a final image. Thornton is clearly the main attraction of Terrifier 2, but LaVera and Fullam both do terrific work…” 3/5, Nerdly

“The body count is higher and the absurdity of some kills is embraced with some gorgeous practical special effects. Fans of the first will find Terrifier 2 well worth the wait and delivers fan service to those who love the extreme.” Nightmarish Conjurings

Terrifier 2 works best as an exercise in macabre style; Leone repeatedly demonstrates that he knows his way around a creepy scene, with moody and colorful cinematography by George Steuber and an appropriate, John Carpenter-esque synth-and-piano score by Paul Wiley, plus fine use of locations, especially at the lengthy climax. It’s also a strong showcase for Thornton…” Rue Morgue

” …the core audience will get precisely what they came to see. Terrifier 2’s kills repeatedly up the ante, delivering some of the most horrific gore sequences ever seen in a horror film. And, like much of Terrifier 2, it goes on and on, eventually reaching an astonishing crescendo of violence. Somehow there’s another hour or so after that too, repetition eventually blunting Art’s mean little thrills.” 3/5, Starburst

” …as effective as the individual kills are, Terrifier 2 goes on for way too long and starts to drag […] Leone was smart enough to keep the original film down to a fast eighty minutes and it worked almost perfectly […] Trimmed down to an hour and three quarters, Terrifier 2 would have been another triumph. Instead, it overstays its welcome and collapses under its own weight…” 3/5, Voices from the Balcony
