Faceless After Dark is a 2023 home invasion meta-horror thriller film about an actress who is held hostage by a demented movie fan.
Directed by Raymond Wood from a screenplay co-written by Todd Jacobs and lead actress Jenna Kanell (also in Terrifier; The Bye Bye Man; Demonica’s Reign).
The movie also stars Danny Kang, Danielle Lyn, Max Calder, Michael Aaron Milligan, Kathrine Barnes, Jason MacDonald and Catherine Corcoran.
Plot:
Following her breakout role in a killer clown horror flick, Bowie (Jenna Kanell) now finds herself struggling to capitalise on its success, but when she is suddenly held hostage by an unhinged fan posing as that same killer clown, horror becomes her reality as she fights to survive the night and escape before he completes his sinister plan to recreate the film’s fatal plot…
Director Raymond Wood’s statement:
“Faceless After Dark masquerades as a run-of-the-mill home invasion thriller before abruptly switching gears to a grisly, vitriolic feminist revenge-fantasy (think Promising Young Woman, but more sadistic, with a girl-punk/queercore vibe).
At its heart, it’s a thinly veiled exposé on how the anonymity of the internet empowers ill-intentioned, abusive people with the ability to show their true colours without having to face the consequences of their actions or the people whose lives they negatively affect. But it’s also a lot of other things…
Release:
Faceless After Dark premiered at 2023 FrightFest in London on August 25, 2023.
The movie will be released on VOD on May 17, 2024.
