Mickey 17 is a science fiction dark comedy film about a young man who volunteers to be an “expendable”: a disposable space employee.
The movie was written, directed, and co-produced by Bong Joon-ho (Parasite; The Host; Memories of Murder), based on the 2022 novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton. It stars Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo.
Plot:
Wanting to get out of Earth, Mickey Barnes signs up to be an “expendable”: a disposable space employee where after one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most memories intact.
After one of his “multiples”, Mickey 17, unintentionally survived a human expedition to colonise the ice world Niflheim, he goes head-to-head with a new multiple, Mickey 18.
Release:
Mickey 17 will be theatrically released on January 28, 2025 in South Korea, followed by the rest of the world on January 31, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
