The Platform 2 is a 2024 dystopian sci-fi horror film about the inmates of a vertical prison with one cell per level. Two people per cell. Only one food platform and two minutes per day to feed.
The Basque Films production is a sequel to the Netflix hit The Platform (2019).
Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia (The Platform) directed and co-produced the movie from a screenplay co-written with David Desola, Egoitz Moreno and Pedro Rivero. It was also produced by Carlos Juárez and Raquel Perea.

The Basque Films production stars Milena Smit, Hovik Keuchkerian, Óscar Jaenada, Natalia Tena, Bastien Ughetto, and Tadashi Ito.

Plot:
As a mysterious leader imposes their rule in the Platform, a new resident becomes embroiled in the battle against this controversial method to fight the brutal feeding system. But when eating from the wrong plate becomes a death sentence, how far would you be willing to go to save your life?

Reviews:
“Here the director shines and has even improved compared to the first instalment. Its complex narrative attracts and engages from the first minute. Even when the film opts for less conventional paths in the story, the filmmaker knows how to exploit that and always make us participate in the story.” Acción [translated from Spanish]
“Platform 2 takes compelling steps in expanding its allegorical prison universe, though its unstable balance of plot and themes undermines the profound discussions it aims to spark. While retaining thought-provoking substance, lapses in coherence dilute potentially haunting portrayals of humanity’s frailties. Overall, the film elicits mixed feelings, effectively building on its predecessor’s foundation but falling shy of the original’s unshakeable impact.” 6/10 Gazettely
“The grindhouse thought experiments can be engaging, and a sign that the movie is more interested in speculative fiction than in preaching toward a single specific theme. But the movie rampages too quickly and carelessly to really dig into any of its characters […] Eventually, the movie skips ahead to something more novel: an eerie, green-lit sequence that brings both sci-fi and slow-building suspense back into the proceedings.” ★★ The Guardian

” …it takes place in the exact same location as the first movie. I loved the first movie and still cannot get over how brutal it was. This one is still brutal (very!), but in a somewhat different way. I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending, which impacts the rating, but I absolutely recommend watching it.” ★★★ Heaven of Horror
“For fans of the original, this sequel offers more of what made the first film compelling, with added layers of rebellion and the enduring question of whether anyone can truly escape the system. Despite its flaws, The Platform 2 is worth a watch for anyone looking for a dark, thought-provoking thriller that pushes its characters—and viewers—to confront uncomfortable truths about human nature.” ★★★ Leisure Byte

“This movie takes us back to where we know the disturbing reality of the world. However, it lacks the punch the original bought and felt more like a cash-in to create more story without bringing enough substance to the creation. Although, it does keep the idea how testing human nature alive, showing the very worst that comes to life. There are a few shock moments, but it never feels as connected in the frenzy.” ★★ Movie Reviews 101
“The only drawback I have with this film is similar to that of the first part […] You will surely remember the conclusion of the first part and the debate that it provoked […] But despite this, we must be happy because not everything is a mystery and The Platform 2 gives us new images of how this prison works.” Moviementarios [translated from Spanish]
