Blurb:
“The Evil Dead meets Scream as an evil professor, through an ancient staff and a book of incantation, possesses the bodies of a group of fraternity and sorority pledges during a night of “hazing” activities in an abandoned mansion. When the students meet one grisly death after another, the survivors finally realise it’s the professor who is possessing their friends and killing them all off. Now none of them trust each other– is it their friends or puppets of the professor that they’re hanging with? Someone better figure it out quick… or none of them will make it through the hellish night of The Hazing!”
Collated reviews:
“One of the cardinal sins in a low-budget film like this is to slow down long enough for your audience to be reminded of your budgetary limitations. The Hazing has no such problems […] There’s no skimping on the nudity either, and although the film is filled with stereotypes and well-worn horror cliches, it also goes to great lengths to play with the audience’s expectations.” ★★★½ Bloody Good Horror
“This isn’t an original idea and feels very much like another take on Night of the Demons, but it is well-made and a lot of fun […] The gore and makeup are decent and spread evenly throughout the movie. Some of the highlights are a head hitting the floor, someone getting skewered, and a death by lawn dart.” Crappy Movie Reviews
” …the comparisons to other horror movies are obvious and inevitable. Evil Dead and Night of the Demons spring to mind […] The Hazing does a good job of mixing the comedy with the blood and guts. This mixture usually doesn’t work but this movie pulls it off. I had a good time.” 3 out of 4, Doctor Gore’s Movie Reviews
“Surprisingly there are some imaginative death scenes here and the comedy works quite well. It doesn’t try to be anything other than a corny hour and a half of entertainment obviously influenced by classics like The Evil Dead and while it never really produces a scare it is pretty fun.” Eat Horror
“A sometimes cheesy, sometimes (very) gory, sometimes funny but never scary film, The Hazing is a fun enough watch to make it worth checking out […] Sure, it contains its fair share of low-budget cheesiness but hey, you won’t find a more eclectic demonic possession movie. The Hazing is worth seeing just for that alone.” Film Lair
“The budget was obviously on the light side and some of the special effects are sub-Mr. Boogedy, but it has heart and what I detect as a genuine desire to show its audience a good time. It actually began life as a potential sequel to 1981’s Hell Night which it still vaguely resembles, but it ends up being more of a cross between The Breakfast Club and Night of the Demons (the original, non-depressing one). Kindertrauma

“It’s your basic spam in a cabin scenario and it does its level best to reproduce the experience of watching an Evil Dead movie, or Night of the Creeps. Only without Sam Raimi’s native talent and moxie. It’s derivative, of course, and it bloody well knows its derivative. But that doesn’t make it bad. I won’t go so far as to say it’s “good,” either, but I can totally see this as a party movie…” Krell Laboratories
“…there comes a sudden point where The Hazing gets entertaining in its ridiculousness. Jeremy Maxwell and Nectar Rose end up in bed together. He is going down on her and suddenly develops a giant tongue about four feet long. He responds by cutting it off. At the same time, Charmaine DeGrate bursts into the room with a chainsaw whereupon Jeremy grabs it and starts attacking the writhing tongue amid great gouts of blood.” ★★ Moria
“Although short on fresh ideas for this type of venture, creator Kanefsky inks some great moments and exchanges and the plucky cast turn in surprisingly good performances, with Dourif’s comic charm elevating his comparatively minimal screentime to be the most memorable.” ★★★ Vegan Voorhees
“The Hazing delivers 100% pure natural boobage (perhaps Brooke Burke is an exception, but since she remains covered, she doesn’t count) and 100% low-budget trash film fun, and is as satisfying as some of the best of the generation of films it pays homage to.” A Wasted Life
