‘Every face is a work of art’

The Pumpkin Karver is a 2006 American slasher horror feature film directed by Robert Mann (10-31) from a screenplay co-written with producer Sheldon Silverstein (Hazard Jack). The Mannatee Films production stars Amy Weber, Minka Kelly, Terrence Evans and Charity Shea.

Plot:

Jonathan (Michael Zara) and his attractive sister, Lynn (Amy Weber), relocate to a town named Carver to start a new life because Jonathan accidentally killed Lynn’s boyfriend when the latter’s Halloween prank went wrong.

They are heading to a party but there’s a catch: the man Jonathan killed is back… in a new, horrific form.

Reviews:

” …a slasher film will fail 75% of the time if you don’t have a decent protagonist. A slasher film will also fail 99% of the time if the killer himself is dull and the rotten pumpkin mask that he wears here looks cheap and crappy.” Torstein Karlsen, Cinema Terror

“The kills in Pumpkin Karver are weak. The movie grinds on with some ludicrous budding love story while the viewer waits impatiently for a madman with a pumpkin on his head to appear. The killer doesn’t even show himself until an hour has dragged by…” Doctor Gore’s Movie Reviews

” …this slasher flick is nothing more than a story based around a bunch of stock characters (who offer us nothing in terms of kills and thrills) that seems to be more of a way to waste time until the highly confusing/implausible coup de grace?” From the Cheap Seats

“… The Pumpkin Karver has absolutely nothing to offer. There’s no suspense, no mystery worth solving, no gore effects that Todd Sheets couldn’t whip up in his backyard in a couple of hours.’ 1000 Misspent Hours and Counting

” …The Pumpkin Karver is a pretty boring affair with too few flourishes to make up for slack pacing and a stupid, unexplained ending. Combine these elements with annoying characters (too many of whom survive) and it has all the appeal of a rotting pumpkin on November 12th.” Hudson Lee, Vegan Voorhees
