Zombies – USA, 2016 – reviews

‘Outlive the undead’

Zombies is a 2017 American action horror film written and directed by Hamid Torabpour and presented by Cameron Romero (son of George A. Romero) and Winter State Entertainment. It stars Tony ToddRaina Hein, and Stephen Luke.

A virus leaves the world in shambles and plagued by bloodthirsty zombies. Will Luke and his crew have enough strength and ammunition to stay alive long enough to outlive the undead?

” …it delivers the raw meat. It is also cool to see horror legend Tony Todd playing a good guy, the world-weary Det. Sommers. Steven Luke is respectably hard-nosed as his namesake, while Hein shows some solid action chops as Bena. This is basically a meat-and-potatoes zombie film that could become a sentimental fan favorite over time.” J.B. Spins

“Reflections on guilt are interesting, but performances are stiff and unconvincing, with Todd the only seasoned actor in the ensemble, and he’s out to prove it. Tarabpour strives to achieve introspection, to give his horror extravaganza some gravitas, but the challenge of articulation is often too much for the cast, while overall scope is missing, keeping Zombies to building interiors and back alleys.” Brian Orndorf, Blu-ray.com
