THE CONTROL GROUP (2014) Reviews and overview

‘Pray you’re not chosen’

The Control Group is a 2014 American science-fiction horror film directed by Peter Hurd from a screenplay co-written with Logan Gion. It stars Brad Dourif (Curse of Chucky; Malignant; Spontaneous Combustion), Ross Destiche and Jenna Enemy.

Plot:

Five college students wake up in an abandoned, locked-down insane asylum – with no idea how they got there and no means of escape. They discover that they are the subjects of secret experiments, but these tests have awakened something that cannot be explained by science.

The students must now fight to escape both the human and supernatural threats if they are to survive and break out of their prison…

The film is available on cable and digital platforms via Wild Eye Releasing, including Amazon.com, iTunes, Dish Network, Vudu, Xbox, Google Play, and YouTube.

Reviews:

“Admittedly, there were parts that felt like a homage to Cabin in the Woods (or even i-Zombie) with the suggestion of covert government agencies that share a secret relationship with supernatural entities. But this felt less like a reimagining of a modern classic and more like an attempt to forge new ground in a developing genre.” Ashley Lister, UK Horror Scene
