TEXAS VOODOO ZOMBIES (2016) Reviews and overview

‘Have fear. No, really… run!’

Texas Voodoo Zombies is a 2016 American supernatural horror film written and directed by Victor McGlothin, making his feature debut. The Victory Vision Films production stars Garrick Thomas, Sarah Umoh, Jon Ball and Dehz Donahue.

Plot:

Doobie (Garrick Thomas) has to find a real job within 48 hours or go back to jail for habitual marijuana possession. Charlie Lewinsky, a shady probation officer, forces Doobie to become his personal weed dispenser.

Desperate to break away from Charlie’s control and his own checkered past, Doobie borrows an insect control truck. He wastes little time breaking all the rules and the trust of his clients when he mistakenly sprays several of his neighbours’ homes with a deadly chemical mix.

Meanwhile, his ex-girlfriend – the scheming Voodoo priestess Sabrina, casts a spell that converts his toxic bug-killing concoction into a powerful zombie potion…

Reviews:

“Don’t let the cover art fool you, these are some of the laziest makeup jobs you can find in a zombie flick. For a movie called Texas Voodoo Zombies, there’s surprisingly little voodoo or zombies, but I guess they got the Texas part, so that’s something. Had I done my top ten most hated zombie flicks a little later, this one certainly would have ended up on it.” Undead Review

Texas Voodoo Zombies has one isolated funny moment but doesn’t make up for the other 96 frustrating minutes. The dialogue is awful and the acting is even worse and has a very sexist mindset. To put it simply, this film is dead on arrival with no soul in sight.” Travis Houze

“Most of the film has to do with urban drama involving women and their carnal desires. The film was bad and slightly campy by design. As far as being entertaining, it was a missed opportunity.” Michael Ledo
