Mystery Box is a 2018 Swedish horror short film directed by Sonny Laguna (Haunted Evil Dead; Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich; Animalistic; Wither; Blood Runs Cold) from a script co-written with producers David Liljeblad and Tommy Wiklund. The Stockholm Syndrome Film production stars Lisa Henni (Haunted Evil Dead; Wither).

A woman (Lisa Henni) is on vacation in the solitude of a small Island outside of Stockholm. One day, when checking her fishing net she discovers an old metal box is stuck in it.

She places the box in a shed nearby, to dispose of later. Just after dinner, a weird sound is heard outside. She opens the front door, only to discover the box at her footstep…

Having made the rounds at film festivals around the world, Mystery Box is released via YouTube on April 10, 2019.

Reviews [click links to read more]:

“The film is clearly inspired by the world of H.P. Lovecraft […] The cinematography looks impressive, the sound is clean, and the moody synth score further complements the intended tone. Henni is easy to watch and the practical effects are of a high standard.” Adam the Movie God

“It is a gripping little film, aided by Samir El Alaoui’s atmospheric synth score; and by Lisa Henni’s acting. She is clearly anxious – reasonably so – and her portrayal of the key character fits the story beautifully.” Alice Field, Ready Steady Cut!
