‘A grim fairy tale’
Gretel and Hansel is an upcoming American fantasy horror film directed by Oz Perkins (Incident at Fort Bragg; The Blackcoat’s Daughter; I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House) from a screenplay co-written with Rob Hayes, loosely based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, Hansel and Gretel. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Monster Party; Upgrade; Sinister) and Fred Berger (Autopsy of Jane Doe), partners at Automatik Entertainment, are producing.
The Orion Pictures’ production stars Sophia Lillis (IT), Sammy Leakey, Alice Krige, Jessica De Gouw and Charles Babalola.
Plot:
A long time ago in a distant fairy tale countryside, a young girl leads her little brother into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil…
