Spider-Man: Far From Home is a 2019 American action-adventure science-fiction film directed by Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home; Spider-Man: Homecoming) from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, based on the comic book character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The movie stars Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Jake Gyllenhaal, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau and Zendaya.

Plot:

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever…

Reviews:

“Tom Holland is once again superb as Peter/Spidey, making the internal conflict he endures palpable for the audience. All the supporting actors, including Jon Favreau as Happy and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, bring great additional flavor to Peter’s world. Director Jon Watts, meanwhile, invests the movie with a lot of style, and finds the right balance between humor and drama.” The Aisle Seat

“It’s a proper extravaganza, with the Elementals mixing with Stark tech for maximum destruction, but Watts doesn’t lose the soul of the tale and its wonderful characters, keeping things fluid, with occasional dips into psychedelic imagery to advance villainy. The big, beating heart of Homecoming survives in Spider-Man: Far from Home…”  Blu-ray.com

” …this proves to be an irresistible way to spend two hours. More comfortably relaxed in the role than he’s ever previously been, Holland further cements himself as the definitive live-action Spider-Man with this movie, able to channel his own version of Peter Parker into a specific kind of mania that is as infectious as it is decidedly youthful.” Den of Geek!

Far From Home is a looser film than Homecoming, with pacing that occasionally slackens, and a compulsion to give every minor character time to shine. But it’s a light-footed summer blockbuster that faces Endgame’s monolithic legacy head-on, before leaving it behind to embark on its own globetrotting adventure.” Empire

“Spidey’s sophomore solo outing in the MCU is ultimately a fairly standard superhero follow-up, which may disappoint some. It doesn’t really do a whole lot to build on what came before – outside of the admittedly riveting action – and resolves as a solid jaunt with some neat surprises, several glaring logic issues and a central villain that doesn’t quite reach its full potential.” Flickering Myth

Far From Home, for all its dazzle and speed, has simpler, humbler aspirations and fulfills them well enough […] a welcome blast of irreverent comic energy, something to clear away the smell of death and provide an upbeat postscript to this now-concluded phase of the overarching Marvel saga.” Los Angeles Times

“As is often the case with these movies, a smaller, livelier entertainment is nested inside the roaring, clanking digital machinery. ” The New York Times

” …it all feels like overload, like so many swarming, soaring computer-generated blips. Far From Home loses its way just as it’s reaching its supposedly thrilling crescendo, its greatest sin being that the scenes with the highest stakes are ultimately kind of dull.” RogerEbert.com

“Like most MCU movies, Far From Home veers between snappy comic banter and big action set pieces. But here, the comic timing seems particularly sharp, with Peter’s open frustration, occasional haplessness, and charming naïveté all turned up for laughs. Gyllenhaal, similarly, delivers a sharp and knowing performance…” The Verge

” …while Spider-Man: Far From Home offers its share of surprising twists and turns (up to and including some must-stay-for post-credit buttons), the movie never feels like it’s just biding its time between super-battles. If anything, and this is a compliment, the film frequently feels like a charming teen road-trip comedy that occasionally turns into a superhero movie.” The Wrap
