THE TOOTH FAIRY (2006) reviews and overview

‘The childhood tale becomes your worst nightmare!’
The Tooth Fairy is a 2006 American horror film directed by Chuck Bowman from a screenplay written Stephen J. Cannell, Corey Strode and Cookie Rae Brown, based on a story by Daniel Farrands and Carolyn Davis. The movie stars Lochlyn Munro, Chandra West, Steve Bacic and Nicole Muñoz.

Plot:
A young girl (Munoz) staying at a bed and breakfast with her mother (West) and her mother’s boyfriend (Munro), find themselves and several others fighting for their lives against “The Tooth Fairy” – an evil disfigured witch who murdered children years before; stealing their last baby tooth and trapping their souls on earth.

The witch is determined to kill Pamela after her tooth is knocked out when she crashes her bike (the witch having made this happen). However, the witch is defeated after the girl shows the witch her reflection in the mirror, allowing her mother’s boyfriend to spray oil on her and setting her on fire.

After the witch is dead, the children whose teeth were stolen, beat the witch with sticks and rise up to heaven…

Reviews:
The Tooth Fairy is a bad horror film, but it doesn’t become annoying or boring. It’s decent to watch once, but not something worth seeking out either. You would be much better off with just finding Darkness Falls instead since it is a superior tooth fairy horror film.” Torstein Karlsen, Cinema Terror

“It’s all very cookie cutter (kids in danger, redneck menacing characters, crazy neighbor that has to tell heroes how to kill monster) and has been done better, and worse, in other films. There are some decent gore effects (the disemboweled hippie chick), but they should’ve done a better make-up on the Tooth Fairy.” Monsters and Critics

The Tooth Fairy, much like Cannell’s previous jaunts into the horror genre, moves at an unreasonably slow pace – with long, drawn-out expository moments punctuated by appropriately brutal kill sequences (the guy who’s forced feet-first into an oversized wood chipper is clearly a highlight).” David Nusair, Reel Film Reviews

“Things become slightly undone as the final edges towards its finale, with ridiculous decision-making shoehorned in to up the body count, undermining the good work done at the start. It’s all forgivable though, given the effort clearly put in by the filmmakers to create something with characters we don’t instantly hate.” Hudson Lee, Vegan Voorhees

” ….they go out of their way to tell us that Mrs Craven is a witch only to deliver a movie that never once has anything supernatural happen in it instead being content to be a slasher movie retread as our “Tooth Fairy” wanders around trying to look menacing in a black robe while chopping people up with an axe…” The Video Graveyard
