‘Their footage will tell his story’
Red Woods is a 2021 American found-footage horror film about a group of urban explorers that go to the backwoods of Appalachia. Hoping to capture footage of abandoned houses, they unwittingly become the subjects of a much darker video – made by a different kind of “enthusiast”.
Written and directed by Nicholas Danko, based on a story by Ted Voron, the movie stars Michael Barnett, Brian E. Stead, Jacquelynn Ware and Justin Rose. Produced by Elizabeth Danko and Nicholas Danko.
Reviews:
“The final half-hour of Red Wood is surprisingly tense given this is a found footage film so we know how it will end. The big difference, at least for me, was the way it was shot. It doesn’t look like a found footage film and that, combined with a good script, let me forget I was watching one. Granted most conventional horror films end the same way as most found footage films do these days, but it’s nice not knowing it before the film even starts.” Voices from the Balcony
