Hager is a 2020 German mystery horror film about an undercover cop who is trying to track down a drug that takes users to Hell itself!
Directed by Kevin Kopacka (Dawn Breaks Behind the Eyes; shorts: Timea; Hades) from a screenplay co-written with H.K. DeWitt, Crossbones GmbH production stars Nura Habib Omer, Philipp Droste, Frederik von Lüttichau and Jürgen F. Schmid.
After his colleague Schweitzer goes missing during a drug raid, undercover policeman Till Hager is tasked with tracking down a mysterious new drug called “Abaddon” – a substance which supposedly drags its users down the deepest depths of Hell…
“This movie is smartly written, boasting compelling moments of dialogue and themes that never fail to resonate with an audience — sin and punishment, love, and the human condition. I wouldn’t say it is quite the bizarre drug trip that was Gaspar Noé’s Into the Void, but if you enjoyed that movie’s psychological storyline minced with a drug-induced premise then you may too enjoy Hager.” 6 out of 10, Horror Buzz
“This film markets itself as creepy, druggie, and sexy. Since the male lead fails miserably at sexy, the women hold it up. The drug use is presented well with some truly amazing special effects. Finally, I gave a good score because the “creepiness” permeates the entire runtime.” 5 out of 5, Horror News
“While I don’t mind films that take viewers on an artistic journey, Hager loses its foundation and story definition in its creative expression, resulting in a protagonist character arc that almost falls apart on its cryptic metaphors and symbolism. While the non-linear approach makes sense here, consistency to detail is often lost.” Joe’s Horror Reviews
Hager was released in Germany on 15th January 2020. It is available on Amazon Prime.
