Reviews:

The Barcelona Vampiress is an intriguing period crime drama that brings the tale of the ‘Spanish Jack the Ripper’ to life. This is accomplished with a lot of style and panache, thanks to the inventive and brilliant cinematography of Josep M. Civit. This, along with director Lluís Danés’ eye for showmanship, ensures that The Barcelona Vampiress will linger long after the credits roll. It’s a fascinating and immersive story that still puzzles to this day.” Backseat Mafia

“With some David Lynch imagery thrown in, The Barcelona Vampiress is a work of art with some truly stunning scenes that feel plucked out of an art gallery. The film asks questions of society and whether believing in fantastical theories instead of believing the harrowing truth is more cathartic. This film has the potential to be this year’s Tigers Are Not Afraid.” Bloody Flicks

” …we discern, through all the noise, all the false flags, all the scurrilous gossip and red herrings, a portrait of a woman who, though no saint, is a convenient patsy, while the real corruption lies with the society around her, neglectfully abusive of the poor while ever protective of its rich élites. This is Spain’s answer to Fritz Lang’s M (1931)…” Projected Figures

” …the film is a veritable box of tricks when it comes to filming techniques, using an almost expressionist attitude to some sets, freezing the background as the character walks through it, including shadow puppet moments and much more. It never feels overdone (though walking through the red curtain into the colour filmed brothel did break the spell slightly as my mind rushed from the scene and over to Lynch’s Twin Peaks – unfortunate and more me than the film).” Taliesin Meets the Vampires
