GOODBYE HONEY (2020) Reviews and overview of abduction thriller

Goodbye Honey is a 2020 American thriller about a young woman and abduction escapee who frantically seeks help from a female truck driver. The two women take refuge not knowing what the rest of the night has in store.

Directed by Max Strand from a screenplay co-written with producer Todd Rawiszer, the Examine Dots Pictures-Goodbye Honey co-production stars Pamela Jayne Morgan, Peyton Michelle Edwards, Aaron Mitchell and Stacey Van Gorder.

Reviews:

“Sometimes the dialogue is slightly off and the part of the story that involves two guys ‘terrorizing’ the truck feels a little unnecessary. That said, this is a really strong debut from the director and writer Max Strand. It’s not always easy to add new things to a type of horror movie that been made countless times with little originality added to it. But Strand shows it’s always possible…” Nerdly

“While the motivation of the abductor seems thin at best, we all know that sometimes the most fragile of motivations is all one needs to commit a heinous act. Making use of the truck and the campground around it helped amplify certain feelings throughout the course of the film. Taking us through a variety of emotions, Max Strand’s Goodbye Honey is definitely one you need to add to your list.” Nightmarish Conjurings

“A tense thriller that, unusually, starts with an escape from captivity. Great characters and atmosphere, but very patchy writing.” Ready Steady Cut

“It makes good use of its two main locations, an empty rest stop and the truck itself to highlight the sense of isolation and of being trapped […] Everything builds to a final confrontation that’s tense enough that I wasn’t sure who would come out alive. It’s a satisfying end to what is not just an auspicious debut film…” Voices from the Balcony

Max Strand commented: “It was an incredible experience for Todd and I to work with such an unbelievably passionate and talented cast & crew on our first film Goodbye Honey. For this journey to culminate in a 96-minute intense thriller, with two strong female lead characters, is so amazing and I couldn’t be prouder. I hope the audience connects with the characters not only for being the badass, strong women they are but also for being good Samaritans”.
