Plot:

In their last attempt to save their marriage, Sara (Paula Castaño) and Óscar (Andres Londono) decide to take a short vacation in a cabin in the woods with their two children.

However, upon arrival, strange events corrode the tense atmosphere between them: a woman prowls the house predicting events that defy nature, which break the family from within as they confront unresolved problems from their past…

Tarumama drips with stylish dread and coupled with a haunting score makes for quite the unsettling story. When monsters do turn up they also look incredible, so hats off to the production design too. A clever twist on the cabin in the woods motif with some genuine scares and bucketloads of atmosphere.” Bloody Flicks

Tarumama may sound like a La Llorona clone at first, but I’m pleased to tell you that familiar clichés such as jump scares and ghostly special effects are avoided […] The setting is very well used, after all, especially the mist amongst the trees, making some of the scenes a little disorienting. The only flaw (for me, at least) was in the ending, which made it a little more neatly resolved than I felt necessary.” Horror Obsessive

“It’s a visual treat at times too as thick fog swallows the thick, mossy woodland, bringing with it a ghoulish formation to haunt the family. The cabin feels compact and claustrophobic, scenes are shot high to feel like something is bearing down and antagonising Sara and Oscar. You watch, waiting for a moments relief but instead, the story shifts neatly into its third act and leans hard into its horror creating a genuinely terrifying shot at its climax.” Love Horror
