Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2 is a 2021 Polish backwoods horror film focused on a young lonely policeman looking for love.
The movie is obviously a sequel to Nobody Sleeps in the Woods (2020).
Directed by Bartosz M. Kowalski, who helmed the previous entry, from a screenplay co-written with Mirella Zaradkiewicz.
The Akson Studio-Netflix-Plan Zet-Polski Instytut Sztuki Filmowej co-production stars Zofia Wichlacz, Julia Wieniawa-Narkiewicz, Mateusz Wieclawek, Wojciech Mecwaldowski, Sebastian Stankiewicz, Andrzej Grabowski, Izabela Dabrowska and Robert Wabich.
“Adaś is a young, lonely, unhappy policeman from a small village in Podlasie. Ignored by his colleagues and beautiful and extremely confident Wanessa, the shy boy is looking for his place in the world. In the sequel, we will also learn more about the fate of Zosia, who will show a completely new and surprising face.
The film is a perverse, ironic, grotesque and bloody story about looking for love and discovering one’s own self in a world that divides us more than it unites us. It’s a slasher that will turn genre rules upside down this time.”
[May contain spoilers] Reviews:
[Spoilers]” …director and co-writer Bartosz M. Kowalski modulates the tone, downshifting into pseudo-rom-com territory, spicing it with philosophical and ethical discussions between characters who begin questioning their greater purpose in life. The dialogue functions as self-commentary, and the movie becomes openly critical of movies exactly like this, an approach that would be tiresome here in the post-Scream world if it wasn’t so amusing in several other ways.” Decider
[Spoilers] ” …the final third of the movie becomes a sort of alien romance story […] And these aliens also speak an alien language, which means nobody on Planet Earth understands. Don’t worry though, there are subtitles […] Honestly, I loved this sick and twisted development of the story. I just didn’t like that the first hour or so was way too slow in its build-up.” Heaven of Horror
“Nobody Sleeps In The Woods Tonight 2 is visually not recommended for faint-hearted people as there are lots of scenes that can disgust you to the core […] There are lots of surprising and astonishing parts in the movie. Overall the movie is abnormal, twisted, monstrous, and most important of all very bloodstained.” Leisure Byte
” …one shocking development towards the end of act two really switches the film upside down. The results bring levels of originality that sometimes is lacking in horror films. It’s a different kind of horror film, that with the right kind of audience could gain a cult following.” Ready Steady Cut
