Reviews:
Surrogate is an amazingly solid horror flick. It boasts an amazing lead performance by Kestie Morassi, and it will be the kind of horror film that will be loved by those looking for more obscure alternatives to the Hollywood horror formula. Don’t miss it. It is well worth a watch.” 8 out of 10, Fiction Horizon

“The third act does threaten to derail the film by becoming overly large and a tad convoluted, but it wraps up just in time in an emotional, well-crafted fashion. Overall, Surrogate finds its identity while paying homage to some classics, and balances the two well, making it a welcome addition to the horror family.” 2.5 out of 4, Film Festival Today

“I always say that horror on a low budget is a difficult thing to pull off, but so much of the heavy lifting is done by the suspense of a family in perpetual danger. The only thing lacking, in this case, is the pay-off in actual scares. Surrogate is a worthwhile journey that held my attention throughout, with top-notch performances from a mostly female cast.” 6 out of 10, Film Threat

“The scares are strong with the séance to learn what is going on being an edge-of-your-seat experience. Elsewhere, the mystery being solved is one that is interesting to see unfold […] Surrogate is a great ghost investigation horror movie, with plenty of mystery and scares.” 4 out of 5 stars, Movie Reviews 101

“A throwback to traditional old-school horror […] with plenty of tension and a terrific score, David Willing’s movie proves that showing less is indeed more. It loses momentum in the final stretch, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that Surrogate is a genuinely creepy flick that is worth checking out.” My Bloody Reviews

“While not the most original of films […] Surrogate is effective. Especially in the second half as it builds to an ending that is, if not fully disturbing, quite unsettling. Even in a field as crowded as the haunted house genre, Surrogate manages to put the phantom in phantom pregnancy and stand out enough to be worth seeing.” 3.5 out of 5, Voices from the Balcony

Blurb:
“Fans of paranormal horror films will love this, we were inspired by The Ring.

Cinematographer Ben Luck and Production Designer Bianca Milani developed a visual style for Surrogate that is both striking and frightening. Renee Schulz created the Special Effects Makeup, including the stomach-churning ‘blood rush’ scene – which made a crew member physically ill on set.

The post-production team has done incredible work, with slick film editing from Johnny Balazs, an intense sound design from Sasha Zastavnikovic and Mark Buys composing a haunting and terrifying score.

Surrogate was filmed on a modest budget of 2 million dollars but presents and feels on screen like a massive studio-backed horror – audiences can expect a massive production value.”

Release:
In the US, Surrogate will be available on September 2, 2022, for TVOD on Amazon and on September 16, 2022, on Tubi and Google TV via Indie Rights.
