THE QUANTUM TERROR (2022) Reviews of Lovecraftian horror

The Quantum Terror is a 2022 sci-fi horror film in which a group of young people search dark tunnels searching for their missing friend
Written and directed by Christopher Cooksey (creature designer on Harbinger Down). The movie stars Kristin Cochell, Paula Marcenaro Solinger and Matt Blackwell.

Blurb:
“The twin sister and ex-boyfriend of a missing grad student take their friends down a labyrinth of dark tunnels inhabited by an alien entity, in search of her. A story of terror and madness, in the tradition of H.P. Lovecraft, David Lynch, and old school practical effects.”

Reviews:
” …some of the feeling of Lovecraft is achieved (definitely ‘Color Out of Space’ and ‘From Beyond’ were influences) but the cast are pretty wooden, and it feels like the whole thing lurches into an FX fest a little too quickly.” Bloody Flicks

“Cooksey’s style is overtly Lynchian in all the best ways. He understands the power of Lynch’s hard-boiled dialogue rhythms, with the simplicity of the speech guiding the viewer through the labyrinthian structures of The Quantum Terror […] The performances are all good, with the actors working their Lynchian close-ups masterfully.” Film Threat

“While there are some plot cliches, one of which I saw coming early on, there are also quite a few surprises as well, which I genuinely enjoyed. The acting is occasionally stilted here and there, but mostly everyone does a decent job of it. The dialogue is occasionally complex, especially Blackwell’s, but he handles it respectably.” Indie Horror Films
