Reviews:
“In addition to all the masterful filmmaking and fabulous trickery, the film is built upon two unforgettable performances from Park Hae-il and Tang Wei. Both of them deserve to be talked about for years and years. These are the kind of performances that will be analyzed and critiqued endlessly, as the nuance is so powerful that it’s rather overwhelming.” 9.5/10 First Showing

“The tension and the intrigue, the grandstanding emotional confrontations, the ingenious use of mobile phone technology (which so often stymies modern-day thrillers), the stylish set pieces, including a fantastic rooftop chase, and the deliciously manipulative plot twists are very Hitchcockian in their way. But the style is not pastiche…” 5/5 The Guardian

“The unravelling of a good man and the complexities and frailties of human relationships are depicted here. Decision to Leave may not be a classic thriller like Oldboy and lacks the sensuousness of The Handmaiden but is very sympathetic to its lead characters. It is an accomplished and intelligent addition to this great director’s impressive filmography.” 3/5 HeyUGuys

” …Decision to Leave is astonishingly pretty. Whether the setting is the interior of Seo-rae’s house, a snowy mountainside or a shore at sunset, the cinematography gives a little bit of magic to each scene. With its many twists and turns and scene-stealing performances from its lead actors, Chan-wook’s latest work will undoubtedly surprise, delight and move audiences in ways they wouldn’t expect.” 4/5 The Upcoming
