In China, the movie was released theatrically on August 5, 2022. The film was released theatrically in Hong Kong on 25 August 25, 2022.

Background:
The film was first announced in May 2015 under the title, Virtus (矛盾戰爭). Production officially began on February 12, 2017, on a set in Shenzhen which took two months to build. The film was originally due for a theatrical release in 2019 but. this was delayed for three years in order to allow time for a vast amount of post-production special effects work.
