Enola Holmes 2 is a 2022 American mystery thriller film based around the adventures of the titular teen detective. It is the sequel to Netflix’s Enola Holmes (2020). The latter was a big hit for the streaming service and was watched by 76 million households during its first 28 days.

Millie Bobby Brown is back as Enola Holmes and Henry Cavill reprises his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes.

Directed by Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve) from a screenplay written by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, The Aeronauts) based on Nancy Springer’s The Enola Holmes Mysteries novels. Produced by Millie Bobby Brown, Paige Brown, Alex Garcia, Ali Mendes and Mary Parent.

The Legendary-Netflix co-production stars Millie Bobby Brown Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes and Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes. The supporting cast includes David Thewlis (Wonder Woman), Adeel Akhtar (Sweet Tooth), Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Dune), Abbie Hern (The Twilight Zone).

Plot synopsis:
Fresh off the triumph of solving her first case, Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown) follows in the footsteps of her famous brother, Sherlock (Henry Cavill), and opens her own agency — only to find that life as a female detective-for-hire isn’t as easy as it seems. Resigned to accept the cold realities of adulthood, she is about to close shop when a penniless matchstick girl offers Enola her first real job: to find her missing sister.

However, this case proves to be far more puzzling than expected, as Enola is thrown into a dangerous new world — from London’s sinister factories and colourful music halls to the highest echelons of supposed ‘society’ and 221B Baker Street itself. As the sparks of a deadly conspiracy ignite, Enola must call upon the help of friends — and even Sherlock himself—to unravel her mystery… The game, it seems, has found its feet again…

Enola Holmes 2 streams on Netflix worldwide on November 4, 2022.

“Director Harry Bradbeer dials down the action for the sequel, which offers more mystery elements, which, for Sherlock Holmes devotees, won’t be impossible to crack long before the movie gets around to reveals. And there’s still the issue of overlength, with 129 minutes much too long for something that’s basically fluff…” 3 stars out of 5, Blu-ray.com

“Yes, 2 introduces new characters and, yes, it utilizes old ones, but none are there for any other reason than to push the characters and the narrative forward. The writing remains sharp, the performances on point and the commentary (as before) targeted, all while providing a smart and often-rollicking good time.” 4 out of 5, Elements of Madness

” …Enola Holmes 2 can be deemed a successful sequel to the first movie where viewers get to enjoy more developed characters and a plot that presents more twists and turns than the first. Where the first movie attempts to establish itself as a feminist movie with lighter undertones, the sequel delves into darker and sinister tones to accompany our now older protagonist.” 8 out of 10, Geek Culture

“Everything about Enola Holmes 2 feels bigger in scale than the original […] Writing team Jack Thorne and Nancy Springer return to give this sequel a similar tone, while of course journeying into unexplored territory that requires personal growth on Enola’s part. Connections feel entirely plot-relevant, and the mystery time period appropriate. ” 4 out of 5, Josh at the Movies

“Those who enjoyed Cavill’s Sherlock in Enola Holmes will be especially happy to see him more involved in the story of the sequel, but this remains Brown’s franchise. She’s become a powerhouse and continues to capitalize on her skill and charm to keep this film series engaging, and viewers will be won over by the better-constructed mystery and delightful dynamic between the two Holmes siblings.” Screen Rant

Enola Holmes 2 bends multiple interconnected genres but it’s still a fun and entertaining watch that you’ll never want to end.” 4 out of 5, Solzy at the Movies
