Reviews:
“An absurd level of violence, fake blood, and absolutely zero care about who matters to building a plot. And you know what? Sign me up to watch it again […] Go into Project Wolf Hunting with your head empty, no thoughts, just let the blood bath wash over you.” 8/10, But Why Tho?
“Overall, I had a fun time with Project Wolf Hunting. It really feels as if Mr. X from the Resident Evil 2 remake got dropped in the middle of a game of Call of Duty and just ran wild with it. If you can stomach the extreme violence, grab your friends and some drinks, and you’ll have a blast.” 7.5/10, CGM Backlot
“The brutal assassin’s origins are hinted at before the full extent of the conspiracy behind its existence is revealed, which is an interesting extra layer to the already intense narrative. There’s no telling how anyone might die or who will survive any of the many massacres that occur over the course of two hours. But the time flies by…” Digital Journal
“Project Wolf Hunting is not a film that many would describe as fun or enjoyable, but it is undeniably gutsy, figuratively speaking and also quite literally. Usually when you hear the phrase “blood, sweat, and tears,” it is not meant to be translated so directly. But with a movie of this raw disposition, it looks like director Kim Hong-sun and his crew found a way to make exactly the film they envisioned.” 3/5, Elements of Madness
“This is a crazy action ride. It also shows Korean cinema will start eating the compromised Hong Kong film industry’s lunch, snapping up their market share for over-the-top action films. Kim proves they now deserve that business more. Highly recommended for fans who can appreciate (and withstand) its take-no-prisoners aesthetic…” J.B. Spins
“Mastermind Kim Hong-sun hopes you won’t see through the minor cracks in his grand opus. As a result of the neverending slaughter, Project Wolf Hunting is decidedly a bit short on character beats, honed in on instead delivering a maddening break-neck pace from the minute it lets the metaphorical cat out of the bag.” Josh at the Movies

“Infused in the hyper-gory action is some strong science fiction themes that intertwine with real-life history. It may sound like a lot to read, but watching it all unfold is an absolute treat. It is cinematic insanity at its finest. While it may take some time to get going, when it does, Project Wolf Hunting is quite a thrilling watch.” 83% Keith Loves Movies
“Despite losing velocity in the middle, and elements that could easily be trimmed—there’s an unnecessary opening that, while cool, only exists as an overly convoluted reason why they’re on a ship in the first place—Project Wolf Hunting is ultimately a damn good time. Wild and raucous and one hell of a professional calling card for the folks behind the endless blood geysers, this will play like gangbusters with a rowdy crowd.” Grade: B+ The Last Thing I See
“The central issue with Project Wolf Hunting, perhaps, is that, while Kim’s screenplay shifts modes—from action to horror—and the focus of the plot, his filmmaking remains locked in the same tone, rhythm, and aesthetic. The former changes might prevent the movie from seeming redundant, but the end result is, nonetheless, wholly repetitive.” 2/4, Mark Reviews Movies
“Project Wolf Hunting is a brutally efficient killing machine long before the supernatural twist stomps into the proceedings. That almost seems like a gimmick-too-far. Only a couple of characters merit background sketches, and these explain and motivate their characters when the picture doesn’t really require that. A few red herrings offer clever distractions.” 2.5/4, Movie Nation
“If you want to have fun, go into this with the expectations of just enjoying it, and likely you will. This isn’t going to be for diehard film buffs who pick apart every little thing, but when you watch movies to enjoy them, this is a guaranteed blast (both figuratively and literally.)” Overly Honest Movie Reviews
“By the time the fairly anticlimactic conclusion rolls around, Project Wolf Hunting has cemented its place as a decent-enough endeavor that would hardly be worth mentioning were it not for its often breathtakingly brutal atmosphere (ie the movie rivals Peter Jackson’s Dead Alive in terms of its blood and guts).” 2.5/5, Reel Film Reviews
“There’s a definite beginning, a doughy middle, and a gaping end to Project Wolf Hunting, but they somehow don’t cohere into a feature-length spectacle. Plot, characters, and performances … none of these matter as much as the lavish gore that coats the movie like the watery gak that soaks latter-day Gwar concerts. Fine by me, but when does the movie start?” RogerEbert.com
“Where its contemporaries might feel a little deficient for not exploring their concepts and characters to the fullest extent, Project Wolf Hunting can hardly be accused of straying far from its particularly outlandish wheelhouse. Kim’s film is dedicated above all else to the squelching and spurting of blood and the ripping apart of seemingly endless bodies, and it’s quite gleeful at delivering those grotesqueries.” 2.5/4, Slant
” …a violent genre film imbued with creativity and hellbent on being the bloodiest film in history […] While it won’t move those looking for anything beyond its surface level thrills, Project Wolf Hunting is one of the most entertaining midnight films thanks to its commitment to maximalist genre fun.” Tilt
“Not for those with a weak stomach or who need much in the way of plot or characterizations, Project Wolf Hunting starts out as a bloodsoaked action film before turning into a hellish bloodbath that, while not as sadistic as Terrifier 2, has it beat for the sheer number and quality of effects. Hongsun Kim says there are fifty-seven deaths and that two and a half tons of blood were used.” 4.5 out of 5, Voices from the Balcony
