Reviews:
” …the lack of a consistent rhythm confuses viewers as to the film’s intended entertainment targets. Is Hitchcockian suspense, quirky black comedy, or domestic drama the film’s focus? Given its low, albeit serviceable, ambitions, it’s simpler to summarize Unseen’s indistinct personality as a Blumhouse digital feature “engineered exclusively for filling up space on a streaming service.” 50 out of 100, Culture Crypt

“Okumura takes Salvatore Cardoni and Brian Rawlins’ story and guides it in a refreshingly easy-going manner. The director lets the tension and anxiety play out in a cohesive and organic manner, resisting the urge to make quick cuts or jump scares and allowing the actors to carry the moments and for Tangelene Bolton’s score to do the work. Additionally, Okumura encourages the natural humour to flow in the story.” Fortress of Solitude

Unseen maintains tension amidst the comedy, all while using just a phone, a gas station, and some woods. Even during hilarious moments, the taut pull of terror never eases. Each cast member shines as part of the whole, bringing to life a must-see film. It could be a guide, too—a kind of if-your-partner-sound-like-that warning. Top-tier work.” Nightmarish Conjurings

” …a lot of Unseen is so over the top and unbelievable it feels like it was meant to be a comedy rather than a serious thriller. It might have worked if the comedy had been toned down a bit and the thriller aspect more suspenseful. But Emily’s plight is put on the back burner too many times to focus on Sam’s rather less credible situation and never manages to produce the tension it should have.” 1 out of 5, Voices from the Balcony
